Founder and Director

Arco is an established professional in the shipping industry and has 25 years of experience, both on board and on shore. He completed the Higher Maritime Officers education on Terschelling (The Netherlands), graduating with a dual degree (nautical and engineering). He has added further certificates and qualifications to his resume during his career, focussing on all aspects relating primarily to chemical tankers.

 For nearly a decade, Arco sailed with one of the major chemical tanker owners, and has since 2005 worked onshore in the operation department as manager at a few major and smaller tanker operators. During his career, he has dealt with highly toxic chemicals, vegetable oils and “Annex 1” products on ships of all sizes,  sailing short sea, West Africa and world-wide. Arco’s strength lies particularly in optimising economical/financial performances of tankers’ operations, for example in negotiating world wide towage contract and bunker contracts

Using his vast experience, Arco identified an opportunity to assist the shipping industry by reducing operating costs on a larger scale. GMS intends to make a shift in the industry by doing things differently and more cost efficiently.
